HOW Magazine App Reviews

I was super excited to see HOW finally brought their magazine to the iPad. That excitement lessened when I realized I had to double dip and pay twice for my subscription. It was lessened to zero after I decided to support the magazine and double dip, only to find out the app doesnt even have Retina support, which for a magazine, is critical. I didnt even think to check because OF COURSE a design magazine would want to take advantage of those pixels, right? Oh well, guess Ill suffer through the blurry mess until they get their act together. But Ill advise everyone else to wait.

First of all, this is the 2nd week of Jan., and the only edition available for the online sub., is Nov., while Jan. has been on the newstands for awhile. Second, this is half a magazine, reformatted editiorial content, and no ads. I, for one, read mags such as this for the advertising as well as the editorial info. I have seen nothing on the website or in the app store that says this. The other reviewer also mentioned, no retina support. I have an iPad2, so I cant comment about that, but the pages(?) are not clear, few photos, mostly clever, scrolling icons, illustrations interspersed in the very weird layout. If you like the newsstand version, you will be disappointed in this one. Right now, its a waste of money.

You need to delivery a true digital magazine complete with Ads. Either get with Zinio or get out of the game. Youre our design resource and it feels like youre with the dinosaurs.

I would like to know why the January online issue is not available in January? I paid for an annual online subscription, so I expect to receive a full annual subscription. This is bad business practices.

Paid for a subscription. Wheres my Jan / Feb issue? Print edition has been out for awhile. Would expect to get digital as soon as the newsstand version goes out.

Buyer beware. The digital issues for this subscriptions do not come out at the same time as the print issues. In fact, theyre at least TWO issues behind! I called HOW Magazine and they said that they are not responsible for the app or subscription and couldnt even provide customer support.

HOW posted an update to the app which allows you to get issues in retina display, and they look really good. I had purchased issues before the app and just had to redownload them to get the retina display versions. Nice work HOW!

I love your mag but when I try to download the new issue I get an error that says "please update your app" please fix. I have a subscription.

Im losing time on my subscription and I cannot access the magazines. Says, it requires me to update but nothing happens.

Cannot download latest issue. Keep receiving error that says Please update your app. I have the latest version. I have contacted customer service but have had no response. I love your magazine and am a subscriber. I would really like to be able to view the latest issue. Hope you can fix this soon!

Its telling me I need to update the app, but no update is available. Ive even uninstalled and reinstalled, the issue still wont download. Ive contacted the subscription department via email...no response for almost a week now! Very upset about this.

Im getting the same error as the rest. The app needs updated yet there is no update available. Id like to open my outdated issue of how, but I cant because it is stupid. Now I have to spend my time writing a bad review instead of enjoying an outdated issue of how... How dumb!

Just paid $19.99 for a subscription and I cannot access the content. Ridiculous.

Like the others that I see here, I am stuck in the place that says to update the app and I cannot download the first issue of this subscription :-(. I repeat dissatisfaction!!!!!!!!!

I was excited to learn that HOW was digital. I quickly downloaded the app. Heres the problem, it keeps telling me to update my app before I download the current issue. It wont let me. Please fix this or refund me for my purchase. This is so disappointing!!!!! I love HOW and would like to enjoy my purchase.

I deleted the app, downloaded and updated the app again just now and both old and the newest versions are accessible. Thanks and you guys should push out a note to be sure people know.

I purchased the online subscription and I havent been able to download the current issue. Any issue to be specific. This is the worse online magazine I have ever purchased. There is not support either. I tried contacting the mag and a rude lady told me they have nothing to do with the online subscription. I feel scammed.

The same happened to me. Purchased the digital subscription but there is nowhere to download it from. Contacted the customer service via e-mail - no response so far. I want my money back but dont know what to do...
